A new member of the family arrives
In the form of a Kimber .45 Ultra Carry II. I went to Kittery trading post with a list of several types of gun to browse, including the Remingon 700 rifles (renowned for accuracy) and the FAL and PTR 91 assault rifles. They didn't have either of the assault rifles, and I was a bit confused by the massive variety of Remington 700's there. So I perused the handguns hoping I'd be better able to make up my mind in this arena. I was convinced I needed a big .357 revolver. Taking care of semi-automatic pistols can be a pain, and I longed for the ease of maintaining a revolver. But when my eyes lit on this Kimber I knew it was time for my first 45. This is an ideal concealed carry weapon, and I plan on getting my permit very soon. It's also quite a beautiful weapon.

Buying a gun serves multiple purposes. Number one, it gives me something fun to do now that spring is upon us. And perhaps more importantly, it is a safe, inflation-proof store of value. So too are the bullets.
I heard a lot of whining about Obama at the gun stores (I stopped by Cabela's also). The salespeople told me that sales have been phenomenal since around October of last year. I'd be lying if I didn't say that concerns about second amendment rights under Obama didn't also figure into this purchase. Certainly, such concerns figure prominently in my desire for an assault rifle.
